AFC Leopards Chairman clinches Nairobi County Assembly speaker
Kenya’s AFC Leopards could be doing badly in the Kenya Premier League. But the club members might be rubbing their hands with glee after their adored chairman Alex Ole Magelo was voted in as the Nairobi County Assembly Speaker after winning the elections held on Friday 22nd March 2013.
Ole Magelo secured 43 votes beat his opponent Mutunga Mutungi who garnered a vote less in the contest handing him the role of controlling proceedings in the County Assembly.
He unsuccessfully contested for a Member of Parliament’s position in Kajiado West constituency which he lost to prominent businessman Moses Ole Sakkuda in the just concluded general elections but this win will offer him a soft landing.
Magelo will now juggle between chairing a club that enjoys a large following in the country [AFC Leopards] and being the speaker both tasks of which are demanding.
AFC Leopards has currently accumulated five points from a win and two draws with fans demanding for a better performance in the coming matches.
