CAF Champions League: Etoile, Esperance in last eight
Both defending champs, Eperance of Tunis and 2007 winners, Etoile of Sahel confirmed their qualification to next stage of the competition at the end of this weekend’s fixtures.
Esperance marched over Dynamos of Zimbabwe 7-1 on aggregate while their compatriots, Etoile of Sahel, even though lost to Cote d’Ivoire’s AF Amadou Diallo by 1-0, booked their place in the next round of the competition.
"From the start of the match there was a chance of qualification," said a disappointed Amani Yao, AFAD coach, told BBC Sport. "We were facing a team that has its weak points, notably on the wings, something we saw in the away leg.
The two Tunisian clubs would be joined by DR Congo’s TP Mazembe and Egypt’s Zamalek, among others.
