Cameroon: Akano embarks on pacification trip
The head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, Jean Paul Akono, took off for Europe yesterday night to meet with some lead players of the team in a bid to restore peace within the national team.
During this two-day trip, Akano shall have talks with Stephan Mbia, Elexandre Song, Nicolas Nkoulou, Idris Carlos Kameni and Jean II Makoun. He shall also watch the matches of some of 40 preselected players for the do or die encounter against Cape Verde in the return leg of the 2013 African Cup of Nations qualifier.
The tough part of Akano’s excursion shall certainly be his meeting with Alexender Song, and Stephan Mbia who have shown strong opposition to Eto’o since the 2010 World Cup. To restore peace in “Lions’ Den”, Akano might have to explain to these players why it was necessary to implore Eto’o to join the team after he rejected it two weeks ago when called up for the match against Cape Verde.
