Quizzed whether he would fancy a return to the local league like his former team mate Pierre Wome, Makoun did not rule out a possible return but said that will be for the nearest future.

“I want to return to the national (Cameroon) championship in the nearest future,” Makoun said.

“It is where I began my career, so I will like to end it there but I feel I still have some years left in me to play at the highest level.

“I don’t know which club I will play for but when the right time comes I will make a decision,” the former Lyon midfielder said.

Makoun is expected to sort out his future with Premiership side Aston Villa after spending a season on loan at Besiktas after reports that he not fit into the plans of new Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert.

The midfielder joined the club during the 2011 January transfer window but failed to settle at the club after Gerard Houllier was sacked. He was considered surplus to requirements by new manager Alex McLeish who sent him out on loan.
