Egyptian FA cancels tournament for security reasons
The alternative tournament that was organised to replace the 2011/2012 Egyptian Premier League season has also been called off for security reasons.
Other reasons put forward by the Egyptian Football Association is the lack of agreement between EFA and the country’s interior ministry on security arrangements for the fixtures.
Also only one club, Smouha have officially declared their willingness to take part in the tournament. All the other clubs have only made verbal declarations with no written document.
All Egyptian top flight clubs were supposed to take part in this tournament safe Al Masry that are still under investigation for their part in the Port Said tragedy. The competition was due to kickoff March 28.
