Kenya : Gor Mahia clinch FKL Cup

The well attended final was staged at the Nairobi City Stadium before a mammoth crowd that was led by Nairobi Mayor, His worship George Aladwa and top football administrators.

Aladwa handed over the glittering trophy to Gor Mahia Captain Jerim Onyango  who is the club Goalkeeper.

Edwin Lavatsa scored the all important goal early in the 31st minute after receiving nice pass from Kevin Ochieng to plant the ball home past Sofapaka Goalkeeper Duncan Ochieng.

It was joy and celebrations for Gor Mahia fans who stormed inside the pitch after the final whistle. It was a thrilling atmosphere as business around the venue came to a standstill as Gor faithful matched all the way to the Nairobi city centre causing heavy traffic snarl up.

Gor Mahia who will represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup sailed to the finals after eliminating their arch rivals’ AFC Leopards with a solitary goal while Sofapaka edged out Thika United 2-1 to book a ticket to the finals.
