Kenya’s top striker finally declares his stand
The new development comes on the day the Minister of Sports Dr. Paul Otuoma was reprimanded in Parliament and asked to explain the debacle involving the Auxerre striker, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and national team sponsors EABL. Oliech had initially announced his decision to quit the national team on Facebook last month saying he needed to concentrate on his club career.
The decision came a month after he had withdrawn from any national team activity involving the team’s sponsors after a row over the use of his image on EABL’s billboards.
Early in the week Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi failed to name his foreign based players when he named the team to start camp perhaps waiting to see how the issues with top players would shape up.
Stars are preparing for 2013 Africa Cup of Nations and 2014 World Cup qualifiers that begin in June.
