Nigeria: Sunshines head home at last
The shootout forced authorities to close the airport thereby grounding all flights.
Nigerian journalist Tunde Shamsudeen who is traveling with the team has told MTN.com that they have already left their hotel for the airport.
"Insha Allah, we will be in NigerIa today (Friday) all things being equal as I speak with you (7.25am Nigeria time)we are leaving the hotel because the Malian government gave us assurances we could move because the airport will be opened for us to fly on Air Mali enroute Cotonou,” Shamsudeen told MTNFootball.com
“We should land in Nigeria today. We can’t wait to move, People from Nigeria embassy came to the hotel yesterday (Thursday) Malian FA also. The Djoliba of Mali team came here to sympathise with us on our situation."
