Tanzania’s TFF start negotiation with Uganda
The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) has started negotiations with their Ugandan counterpart to reschedule the Africa Nations Championship (Chan) qualifying tie.
The Tanzania national soccer team, (Taifa Stars), will host the Uganda Cranes in the first leg on June 23 before meeting two weeks later.
The return leg will clash with the Cosafa Cup dates where the Tanzanian’s will be featuring as a guest team .Taifa Stars will also be shaping up ahead of their clash against Mauritius on the opening day.
The Cosafa 14-team tournament will be held in the cities of Lusaka, Ndola, Kabwe and Kitwe in Zambia.
TFF secretary general Angetile Osiah said he was optimistic their Uganda counterparts will oblige with their request to change the dates.The TFF spokesman intends to push back the second leg showdown.
Kenya and Tanzania, both from the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (Cecafa) region, have been invited in the Cosafa tournament along with Swaziland, Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho, Mauritius and Seychelles in the group phase. Zambia, South Africa, Angola, Zimbabwe, Mozambique and Malawi had been given a bye to the knock-out round.
Taifa Stars head coach Kim Poulsen admitted that the congestion of fixtures will be sorted out .
Poulsen The coach disclosed that Stars might play one international friendly before facing Morocco’s Lions of Atlas on June 8.
