Zambia name provisional Afcon squad
Zambia have named a 26-man squad to begin preparing for their Orange Africa Cup of Nations defence next January.
The squad unveiled by Football Association Zambia spokesman Eric Mwanza on Monday at a press briefing at Football House includes the usual suspects.
However, TP Mazembe striker Given Singuluma was axed after he failed to turn up for training camp for Saturday’s friendly in Tanzania.
The striker had equally been overlooked for the 2012 edition in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.
On the other hand, Jacob Mulenga returns to the squad for the first time since 2010 after missing this year’s tournament due to injury.
Zambia jet out to South Africa on Boxing Day where they will intensify training.
The African Champions have been drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso.
