Mozambique ring changes to squad ahead of COSAFA cup

Mozambique has been forced by injuries and player pullouts to ring some changes to their squad for the COSAFA Cup in Zambia, APA can report on Friday.
Injuries and player withdrawals due to club commitments mean coach Joao Chissano has had to reshuffle his pack ahead of the regional showpiece competition.

Out of contention is goalkeeper Ricardo De Campos whose place is taken by Soares Soares, while defenders Gabriel Macuvele, João Aguiar and Zainadine Junior have also dropped out.

Midfielders Saddan Guambe and Elias Pelembe, as well as strikers Clesio Bauque, Antonio Afonso and Manuel Fernandes are also unavailable.

In their place are Milton Nhabomba, Fernando Cesar, Antonio Belito, Apson Manjate, Reginaldo Fait and Josimar Machaisse.

Mozambique have been handed a bye into the quarterfinals of the COSAFA Cup 2013, where they will meet Zambia in Kitwe on July 14.

The Mambas have never won the competition before, but were finalists in 2008 when they lost 2-1 to South Africa.

Revised Mozambique Squad:

Goalkeepers: Gervasio Cossa, Soares Soares

Defenders: Francisco Miocha, Benedito Bernardo, Almiro Lobo, João Mazive, Dario Khan, Calima Paulino, Milton Nhabomba

Midfielders: Momed Hagi, Manuel Uetimane, Ernesto Stelio, Alberto Diogo, Guilherme Manhique, Fernando Cesar, Antonio Belito

Strikers: Mario Sinamunda, Apson Manjate, Reginaldo Fait, Josimar Machaisse.
