President Issoufou was speaking after visiting Chadian soldiers injured in the conflict and being treated in Niger.
On Monday the Nigerien leader visited eight Chadian soldiers currently under medical treatment in Niamey national hospital.
“I have hailed their [Chadians] courage and through them I want to convey a message of encouragement to all our forces engaged on the ground whether they are French, Nigeriens, and Chadians or from the other ECOWAS member-states. I also would like to take the opportunity to pay them a well-deserved tribute”, he said.
Our mission in Mali is “on behalf of President Deby and the Nigerien president”, one of the soldiers was quoted by the media as saying.
A total of 53 Chadian soldiers had been rushed in Niger health facilities, two of whom died of severe wounds.
