Senegal expert urges web referencing to create jobs…
“Website referencing creates jobs for content editing training, web mastering and referencing expertise, among others. Therefore it is a trade that can provide jobs to many young people,” Niang said in Dakar on Friday.
The computer expert, who is also African Communication firm manager, made those recommendations as he facilitated a public conference on “website referencing, a value generator”, organised by the Cheikh Anta Diop University of Dakar ( UCAD) School of Librarians, Archivists and Documentalists (EBAD), where he graduated in the early 1980s.
Opening a series of scientific and cultural events at EBAD, Niang stressed that web referencing boosts the efficacy of a website and increases visits of its contents by web surfers using search engines and keywords.
He highlighted the value of web referencing centred on traffic, brand awareness, as well as customer and sales increase.
“Referencing creates competitiveness and creativity. For its economic values, it allows Google advertising and other adverts, a sales space and referencing training,” the IT specialist explained.
Web referencing steps include developing a good website, finding the relevant keywords and building strong links, among others.
“A well referenced website topping search results wins 42 percent of market shares, it can also earn 11.9 percent in second place, 8.5 percent in third and 6.1 percent in fourth” Niang explained.
According to him, good referencing should also go with strategic thinking on targeting keywords and a detailed analysis of competition, while giving due importance to monitoring and evaluation of keyword positioning.
