Seven more ministerial appointments in Ghana
President Mahama’s campaign coordinator for last year’s election, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has been nominated as Youth and Sports Minister while Majority Leader in Parliament, Benjamin Kunbour has been named Minister in Charge of Government Business.
A former Deputy Energy Minister, Emmanuel Armah Boah, a legislator has been nominated for the post of Energy and Petroleum, fulfilling a clarion call of chiefs and the people of the Western Region who called for the appointment of someone from the region to take charge of the petroleum industry.
A new entrant Maritta Brew Oppong, a legal luminary has been nominated for the Attorney General and Minister of Justice portfolio while former Deputy Transport Minister, Aku Dzifa Attivor becomes substantive minister.
A former Greater Accra Minister Nii Ashittey Armah goes to Employment and Social Welfare Ministry while former Environment, Science and Technology,Madam Sherry Ayittey has been nominated for the Health Ministry portfolio.
All of the appointees would need parliamentary approval after facing the Vetting Committee.
The first nominees are expected to appear before the Vetting Committee next week.
