Sierra Leone products have become attractive to others-SLCC
As the Sierra Leone Chamber of Commerce (SLCC) annual trade fair opens at the National Stadium on Tuesday 9th April, SLCC president Mrs. Gladys Strasser-King has indicated that the country’s local products have become fashionable and attractive to other nationals.
Strasser-King said in an interview on Wednesday that about 50 international and more than 150 local participants were assembled for the trade fair at the National Stadium in Freetown, (9-27 April).
The trade fair, she said, is being held on the theme “Enhancing National Prosperity through Small Medium Enterprises (SME) Investment and Export”.
She disclosed that the aim of the trade fair was to encourage the private sector through the local SMEs to build strong partnership with investors abroad and improve the country’s economy.
Strasser-King maintained that since the trade fair started some 20 years ago, Sierra Leoneans have been able to improve on their skills and ideas in making local goods with added value that would attract many people, including investors.
She said the trade fair was all about people with skills and talents coming together to showcase and healthily compete with one another on what they have produced, adding that Sierra Leonean talented SMEs were currently producing local goods, with added values that have demands in the international markets.
She said 2013′s trade fair would be very competitive as Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and many other African countries were participating.
