The two-day athletics tournament kicks off on on Friday with six nations to display their athletic prowess led by hosts Botswana. The other participating nations are Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Southern Africa powerhouse, South Africa will be a notable absentee as a result of the non-existence of a Schools Sport Union in that country. “Always bear in mind that when you are outside the borders of Namibia, you are ambassadors not only on the athletics track, but off the field as well. You must be well-disciplined, because discipline yields success,” said the Minister of youths and Sports. The team leaves for Botswana by road tomorrow morning and will be accompanied by 14 officials. Namibia will participate in various track and field events in both the Under-13 and 17 age groups.
