Defensive woes deny Senegal semi final spot
In a topsy-turvy six-goal thriller, the Africans came from behind to force the Mexicans to extra time but the South Americans punished them for lack of concentration. Two goals from J. Enriquez (10min) and J. Aquino (62,in) had were almost enough for Mexico to see Senegal through but a spirited fight back from the Lions saw them score twice in less than ten minutes. Senegalese sensation of the tournament Moussa Konate headed them on 69 minutes before Ibrahim Balde brought both sides level seven minutes later to force the game to extra time. However, the Mexicans stood strong and capitalized on two defensive errors in extra time to score twice. Tottenham Hotspurs striker Giovani Dos Santos capitalized on a defensive mistake by P. Souare to burry the ball into the net before H. Herrera added a fourth after Abdoulaye Ba who was the last man headed a timid ball to the goalkeeper. Senegal join Egypt to pack their bags home as the last African representatives to leave the competition.
