Kenya Karate hold ranking training seminar
Kenya Karate Federation (KKF) held a ranking training seminar for players at Utalii College in Nairobi at the weekend.
The grading system done under the auspices of World Authority Traditional Karate Do Association targeted players from Nairobi and its environs.
The training was conducted by Sensei Peter Ochieng who is a third degree belt holder and Sensei Gregory Oluoch, a fifth degree belt holder.
The karate masters gave the 90 participants technical trainings involving self defense and theories to improve their techniques and ranks.
“The upgrading exams were done by 30 players from white to black belt category who officially registered, we will release their results soon to inform them whether they passed or not,” said Ochieng.
He added that a similar kind of seminar will be done for the Rift Valley region in Nakuru in April Kakamega in June, Meru in September and November in Kisumu.
“The Nairobi seminar was very positive, the participants learnt a lot. Apart from adults 48 children turned up to learn more on Karate,” said Oluoch who is encouraging parents to let their children take up the sports in order to be disciplined in life.
Meanwhile, Nairobi is prepared to host an international children championship in May. Five countries who have already confirmed participation are Tanzania, Kenya, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Malawi.
