On their part, Ethiopia’s Assefa Sofia and Tunisia’s Ghribi Habiba took first and second in Heat 2 in 9:25.42 and 9:27.42 respectively.

The list of Africa’s finalists was sealed in the Heat 3 by Ethiopia’s Ayalew Hiwot(9:24.01) and Kenya’s Njoroge Mercy (9:25.68) at the first and third position respectively.
