Barcelona finished last season in disappointment by their standards as they managed to win just one trophy which was the “Copa Del Rey”. The main reason which was outlined for their poor form was the lack of some key players at certain positions like midfield and right back… something which the club vowed to correct during this transfer window. But so far, Barcelona has lost almost all bids which they have been involved in and are now at the verge of losing one of their best players.
The first candidate which Barcelona hoped to sign for the right-back position was Hector Bellerin, but Arsenal didn’t let him leave and so they went for Nelson Semedo, who is also a great choice. But still he was second or third option at the beginning.
Then the club also trailed Marco Verratti all summer and many were convinced they would get his signature because he too showed some signs he wanted the move. But again, Barcelona missed out on him as he is now back with PSG and have offered apologies regarding the situation.
Philippe Coutinho too is another target which the Spanish giants are close to missing out on after seeing their bids rejected. The club is said to have offered close to 75 miilion pounds for the Brazilian which has been rejected by Liverpool saying he is not for sale.
Barcelona have also made attempts to sign other players such as Paulinho but have failed.
What could be worst among all these for Barcelona fans is the fact that, not only have they failed to sign some of the key players they wanted, but they have also failed to keep one of their main players. Neymar is set to complete a move by the end of this week to the same PSG who have refused selling Verratti to them.
Could this have happened some 5 years ago???
