Stoke City confirmed the signing of Cameroonian midfielder Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting who arrived the club on a free transfer after he was released by Schalke earlier in the summer. The 28-year old has signed a 3-year deal with Stoke and will be the 4th player to be announced at the bet365 stadium this summer. Darren Fletcher, Kurt Zouma and Josh Tymon had already been brought in earlier.
According the club’s executive, Stoke City have been after Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting for a long time. He said on the official website… “Eric has been on our radar for several years and we actually tried to bring him to the club four years ago. The competition to sign him this summer was particularly intense with clubs across Europe wanting him. We are understandably thrilled to have secured his signature and Eric is excited about the prospect of playing in the Premier League.”
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting had earlier represented Germany in his youth days before switching allegiance to play for Cameroon later on. He has made 48-caps for Cameroon scoring 13-goals in the process. He was part of the squad that represented his country in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Now this is a new opportunity for the midfielder to showcase his skills in the Premier League, as he could make his Premier League debut on match day 1 against Everton.
