Burkina Faso dominated the game through Nakoulma and Bernard, multiplying attacks and creating many scoring opportunities, but a Legendary Essam El Hadary was there denying every attempt.
The Egyptians tried to reach the net through Mohamad Salah but their efforts were not converted into goals.
In the second half, things didn’t change very much, Burkian Faso dominating and Egypt chasing the ball, relaxed and without mistakes, waiting for the perfect counter. At the 66th minute, Salah with a superb strike after collecting a lay-off from Kahraba. Salah put the ball in the right corner of the keeper with a great first touch skill.
Burkina Faso didn’t wait for long, Bance was there a great control and a placed shot that was difficult to collect by El Hadary, scoring the equalizer for his team.
The extra time was played without much efficiency from both sides, which lead to penalty shootouts.
El Hadary denied 2 goals offering the qualification to the Pharaos, prooving again that he is a hard number in the African football and one of the living legends of the continent.
Final score: 4 – 3 with penalty shootouts for Egypt after a 1 – 1 draw.
