Crystal Palace are facing competition from three Premier League rivals in the race to sign Algerian striker Islam Slimani, according to reports.

The Sporting Lisbon forward is a reported long-term transfer target for Palace, who were linked with Slimani back in January, along with Manchester United.

But now, the Sun is reporting that Southampton have joined the race, with Everton and West Ham also said to be monitoring the situation after the Algerian reportedly handed in a transfer request.

Reports suggest that Slimani would cost somewhere in the region of between £17m and £20m, although Palace have been linked all summer with big money moves for Liverpool striker Christian Benteke and West Brom’s Saido Berahino, with the club reportedly bidding £30m and £20m for the respective strikers.
