Gianluigi Donnarumma set to leave AC Milan

AC Milan had hoped that they will be able to make Gianluigi Donnarumma stay with them and one day become a club legend like his namesake Gianluigi Buffon did with Juventus. But apparently, the teenager prefers to leave the club and maybe become a hero somewhere else. They had been in contract talks over the past days, but the club just officially announced that the teenager will not extend his contract.

Donnarumma’s present contract expires in 2018, but it seems he will leave the club before then. If the club decides to keep him till his contract expires in June 2018, they will lose a potential huge amount of money. So, the club will instead try to cash in on the player before his contract runs out. There are many clubs such as Manchester United and Real Madrid who are after the promising talent’s signature and so Milan could sell him for a lucrative amount.

The shot-stopper cemented his position for AC Milan shortly after making his debut at the age of 16 which puts him as the second youngest goalkeeper in Serie A to have ever played. But now, his decision not to extend has angered a lot of people as they had hoped the 18-year old would remain with club in their new projects since management changed hands.

Where next Gianluigi Donnarumma will find himself is not sure, but certainly not Milan. The club has already started looking for a replacement, should they decide to cash in on him this summer.
