Injury Concerns for Bayern Munich as the new season nears

Bayern Munich have one of the most complete squad depths in Europe at the moment and even though their preseason has been nothing to write home about, we all know that its still preseason. The Bundesliga Champions suffered shocking defeats against clubs like AC Milan, Inter Milan, Liverpool and most recently Napoli. All the above clubs beat Bayern Munich with at least a score line of 2-0.

Now that the season is drawing closer, the club has started to get some injury concerns as James Rodriguez, Thiago Alcantara and David Alaba all have injuries. James suffered a muscle damage during the 3-0 loss to Liverpool as he was substituted after complaining of discomfort.

The club put out an official statement which read…”Bayern will have to do without new signing James Rodriguez over the coming weeks,”

“As detailed checks by the Bayern medical department showed, the Colombian suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh in the 3-0 loss against Liverpool in the semi-final of the Audi Cup.”

Thiago Alcantara too has suffered an abdominal injury and will have to miss the DFL-Supercup clash on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund. As for David Alaba, the club has issued a statement saying his injury is not too serious.

Well no matter how much depth the club has, they will certainly feel the absence of their key players if they are to be competitive when the season starts. It will be better to have them available and not use, than to have them out injured when they are needed. Sometimes a complete squad gives a higher moral boost.
