It is no news that Barcelona have had their eyes on Marco Verratti now for quite a while and have been closely linked with the PSG midfielder. He too has dropped hints suggesting he is interested in the deal, but nothing official has been made. Now, more fuel might have just been added to the rumors by Lionel Messi’s meeting with the Italian.
Yesterday, both Lionel Messi and Marco Verratti were spotted at a restaurant in Ibiza, even though they didn’t probably want to be seen together. But Messi’s picture with a fan and Verratti’s Instagram post with his Agent were in the same restaurant in Ibiza. This has just increased speculations that PSG’s attempt to keep their maestro will be in vain.
Lionel Messi has been one of the people advocating for the bringing of the 24-year old to the Cam Nou and he might be ready to go a distance to ensure it happens. Maybe he doesn’t want Barcelona to miss out again on Verratti like they did with Bernardo Silva, which apparently made Messi angry. Messi had seriously wanted the former Monaco man to join Barcelona, but Manchester City finally took him.
PSG are set to price the Italian at around 100 million Euros if they will have to let him go. A price which Barcelona will probably be willing to meet, especially as the player himself has been showing interest in the deal.
