Luis Suarez is set to miss out in La Liga opening games for Barcelona and even some vital World Cup qualification matches as he is set to be out injured for about 5-weeks according to reports from Goal.com. The striker could be seen struggling during the final minutes of the Super Cup clash on Wednesday night and the fears of an injury has now been confirmed. Barcelona had already made all 3 substitutions when Suarez started limping, so he managed to finish the game in that state. He picked up a right knee injury, and both the Uruguay Football Association and Barcelona announced that he is set to miss some important games against Argentina and Paraguay.
Luis Suarez hasn’t really been on his usual top form since the end of last season and maybe the injury comes just in time for him to recover and regain his full form. His lack of goals in the Barcelona’s crucial games has really affected the club and most at times, his strike partners, Lionel Messi and Neymar where there to cover up. But now, unfortunately, Neymar has left the club and so Suarez and Messi have the task to provide the goals, until maybe a replacement for Neymar comes in.
Barcelona have been heavily linked with the signing of Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho…but both deals seem very difficult to pull off as their respective clubs are determined not to sell, or do so at very high rates. So only the days ahead will tell what finally happens.
In any case, Luis Suarez will be greatly missed by Barcelona during this period of his injury. Gerard Pique too was substituted during the Super Cup clash for injury fears and might not be available for their first league game against Real Betis due to a groin injury.
