Cristiano Ronaldo fires five to become Real Madrid’s record La Liga scorer
Ronaldo started the day on 225 Spanish top-flight goals – three behind Raúl’s record – but finished it on 230 following a virtuoso display in Madrid’s 6-0 defeat of Espanyol.

Ronaldo leveled up with Lionel Messi’s record of 32 hat-tricks after yesterday’s game, and means he is now on 318 goals in all competitions for Madrid, just five behind Raúl’s club best 323. Just for good measure, Ronaldo moved into fourth on the list of the leading scorers in Liga history. The only players ahead of him now are Messi (285), Telmo Zarra (251) and Hugo Sánchez (234).
